This is the true story of Justin and Danielle, and how they designed the perfect custom engagement ring to start their life together as husband and wife.
How did you two meet?
Danielle and I had initially met 10 years ago at a party I threw at my house. Our group of friends would get together every Wednesday to go line dancing. I was harboring this huge crush but could never really work up the courage to talk to her. She was too pretty, too smart, too out of my league. So we became friends on social media. Whenever she was single, I wasn't. And whenever I was single, she wasn't. Until the timing worked out! We were both single and she sent me a message on Instagram asking me out on a date. We've been together ever since!
Tell us your proposal story!
After our daughter was born, everyone was asking when I was going to propose. I wanted it to be a complete surprise, so for a whole year I kept "fake" proposing to her. When the clock hit midnight on New Year’s, I'd get down on one knee and tie my shoe. Whenever I'd get her a present, I'd put it in a box with a note that said, "Will you..." and when she opened it, a note said, "...please enjoy this gift from me." Anything to throw her off. I wanted to be the boy who cried "will you marry me?" When she would roll her eyes the moment I got down on a knee, I knew it was time. So I booked us a trip to Hawaii, took her to a secluded spot overlooking the ocean, pulled out the ring and asked her to marry me. After I convinced her this was real this time, she said yes and was completely surprised!
Where did the inspiration for the design come from?
It came from relentlessly stalking my fiancée’s Pinterest account, and asking her friends very specific questions. I knew nothing about rings, I thought a carat was a vegetable!
Did we meet all of your expectations from designed image to finished piece?
The design process was easy. The proofs were sent out quickly and they knew what I wanted without having to go back and forth too much. I was also able to get the on a short timeframe before I left for Hawaii. My expectations were exceeded!
