Design Story: Rock & Christina

At Forever Artisans, we feature real life stories to inspire your custom design. This is the true story of how Rock and Christina designed their dream engagement ring.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

Well, I had seen Christina come up in Tinder, a popular dating app, two times. I convinced myself she was so beautiful, she had a type and it likely wasn’t me. Needless to say, I swiped left both times and eventually deleted Tinder with no matches. I had read Bumble was a more “serious” dating platform, so I created an account. Christina showed up again, and almost by instinct, I swiped left.

However, the universe was trying to tell me something when the app showed me her again. I read her profile and looked at her pictures for what seemed like a million times, and decided after a few hours to just swipe right and see what happens.

An hour later, we matched and the rest is history. She was my first match on Bumble.

WHERE DID THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS DESIGN COME FROM?

On a whim 10 months ago, I asked Christina how she felt about a marquise-cut diamond as I thought one would look great on her hand. Not only did she love how it looked, but she let me know both her mom and grandmother had marquise diamond engagement rings and so I knew when the time came, I would go for a simple, but beautiful, marquise cut diamond. Christina’s favorite metal is rose gold, so that made my decision there. She’s also a classic woman who appreciates simplicity and clean lines, so all of these notes in my head helped me create the perfect ring with Forever Artisans! I had to get “Love you most.” engraved in the ring as it’s a phrase I say to her all the time.

TELL US YOUR PROPOSAL STORY

We are both in school pursuing our Master’s in different areas. I had a break coming up in three weeks and Christina wanted to go away since we both needed a vacation and something to do for our one year anniversary. I had been thinking about when I wanted to propose, I knew I wanted to but didn’t have a good event or time to do it – now was my chance!

To keep her off my trail, I included her by asking everything she would want to do in Vermont (we live in Massachusetts). As she had never been horseback riding, and the foliage would be perfect, I asked if she’d be interested. When she enthusiastically agreed, I worked with the stable to coordinate how it would work. They would stop halfway through the ride at a scenic spot, offer to take pictures of us on, and then off, our horses giving me the chance to do my thing!

16 days before our trip, Christina tested positive for coronavirus. While she recovered in five days and I never got it, I was definitely a bit nervous leading up to it thinking all of this planning would be for nothing. Thankfully, all worked out and I was released from precautionary isolation a day before we left.

The day went perfectly. Not only did we end up with perfect weather after a minor scare of storms, the foliage was at its peak, and she was surprised (but still had an “idea” according to her!).

DID WE MEET ALL OF YOUR EXPECTATIONS FROM THE START OF THE PROCESS TO THE FINISHED DESIGN?

Yes, definitely. Honestly, it was so easy to work with Missy. I sent my idea and had our call and I got the computer designs just a couple of days later. I was on a super tight timeline as our trip away (two weeks prior to our one year anniversary) was coming up fast. Missy was on top of it every step of the way!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Overall, the experience was fantastic. We are both extremely happy with the ring, and the fact that it was made just for her really made it special. She refers to it as her “perfect movie ring, with the perfect movie (soon-to-be) husband.” That’s a good enough testimonial for me.
