A lot of people think the idea of a custom engagement ring is pretty great—but they don’t know how to go about it. These are the top seven customer questions that will help prepare you for designing your own custom piece. It’s easy, we promise.
HOW DO I START?
It’s simple. You start by clicking the "Get Started" button at the top of this page! Then you get to tell us a little—or a lot!—about what you’re looking for. We’ll get in touch with you to discuss your ideas in detail. You can start completely from scratch, modify an existing design you’ve found elsewhere, or closely replicate a ring you saw in a photo.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
That depends on your design. Every design starts with a $150 down payment, which secures your spot with a designer and your Computer Aided Design (CAD) file. See how cost is broken down and what you can expect.
I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT JEWELRY. WHAT DO I DO?
Don’t worry. We know that everyone isn’t a jewelry design expert. That’s what we’re here for! We recommend consulting our Design Guide to learn about key terms and different styles that you can use to design your piece.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
From start to finish, it usually takes eight weeks or even longer to design a fully custom piece, depending on the number of changes you make to the design as you go along.
WHEN SHOULD I START?
The earlier, the better! If you know you want to propose with a custom ring, make sure you leave plenty of time—at least eight weeks—to design and receive your ring. That’s eight weeks of proposal planning you can do!
WHO WILL MAKE THE ACTUAL PIECE?
Our artisans in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin, workshop will take the CAD file and bring your piece to life. They also look at and approve each CAD before it is finalized to ensure the finished piece will be structurally sound.
